Innovative Transformation of Uzbekistan’s Tourism Sector: Challenges and Opportunities
Abstract
This article is devoted to examining the innovative development of the tourism industry in Uzbekistan based on digital technologies, smart tourism, blockchain systems and management tools for foresight. As research discusses the continuous modernization of tourist clusters in Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and Tashkent based on world best practice from South Korea, Japan, Spain Turkey etc. The findings of study also suggest that digital transformation and smart tourism act as the core factors for improving service quality, competitiveness and national branding. An appendix to the article details some of the approaches that should be implemented in research collaboration, technology transfer and innovation. 8 A Postscript – Recommendations for Enhancing Innovation Infrastructure, Human Capital and Cybersecurity While this article aims to suggest pathways by which sustainable forms of tourism can promote inclusive growth, it is vital to identify empirically how Uzbekistan could achieve success along such paths.
